PDRM: Beware of people claiming to collect summons for police

PETALING JAYA: The police have not appointed any third party agents, companies our individuals as middle men to collect payment for summons or compounds on their behalf, so the public should be wary of anyone claiming to do so.
The Royal Malaysian Police Force (PDRM) said it had detected several syndicates pretending to help people settle their claims, summon discounts and traffic compounds.
It has also received complaints about the scam from the public.
"The syndicate's modus operandi is to deceive the victims through phone calls, advertisements on social media and introducing themselves as traffic police," PDRM said in a statement on Facebook Tuesday (Oct 9).
"If you see any social media accounts or individuals offering service to pay traffic summons, you may contact the nearest police station for verification," it said.
The statement added that any inquiries regarding complaints or traffic summons could be made at 03-22663346 or copsbaman@rmp.gov.my.- Star
