PKR man wants Akmal Nasir's win in JB invalidated

PKR POLLS | A candidate for PKR elections has urged the party's election committee (JPP) to invalidate Akmal Nasir's election as the Johor Bahru PKR division leader.
In a statement, Richard Tan, who challenged Akmal for the position, said a video [see below] has surfaced depicting Akmal "coaching" members when they were voting on Sept 30.
"In the first place, my opponent should not be anywhere near the table where voting takes place and should not be engaging with any voters at the scene of voting.
"Coaching the voters is against the election regulations," said Tan.
"On the basis of this clear wrong-doing by the candidate himself, I would like to urge the election committee to consider the objection which I submitted earlier and disqualify Akmal as division leader."
Akmal succeeded in defending his position by polling 220 votes to 121 received by Tan.
Repeated attempts to reach Akmal for comments have been unsuccessful.
Tan also urged PKR deputy president hopeful Rafizi Ramli, who is trying to invalidate the elections at the Labis PKR division, to speak out against Akmal.

"Shortly after the results were announced, Rafizi released a press statement in which he asked for the Labis results to be annulled due to wrong-doings.
"I would also like to ask Rafizi if he supports censure against Akmal since he has been caught red-handed," said Tan.
Earlier this week, Rafizi had written to the JPP to demand that the Labis election be nullified on grounds that the staff facilitating the elections were biased.
Previously, PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim had warned that candidates who stray into "restricted areas" during the voting process will have their membership rights suspendedwith "immediate effect".
