Probe Lokman over ‘intel’ on Zahid being questioned, MACC urged

Former Umno leader Khairuddin Abu Hassan says MACC needs to be reshuffled to protect its integrity.
PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has been urged to investigate Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam to find out if there is a “mole” in the agency who has been feeding him information.
In a statement, former Umno leader Khairuddin Abu Hassan urged the agency to take a serious view of Lokman’s claim that he had “friends” in the MACC.
This was after Lokman claimed today that Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will be called by the MACC for questioning at 10am on Wednesday.
“How can a civilian like Lokman know what will happen at MACC? MACC chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull must pay serious attention to Lokman’s claims,” said Khairuddin.
Khairuddin, who is a PH communications and mobilisation bureau committee member, added that a reshuffling in MACC was needed to protect its integrity and image, as well as the protection of information.
“Government secrets cannot be simply leaked. This is against the law. The MACC must arrest Lokman and find out who leaked information to him.”
Previously, Lokman also claimed that Zahid was set to face court charges, though it was unclear as to the nature of the charges.
Meanwhile, Zahid has asked his supporters not to gather at the MACC headquarters on Wednesday, as earlier suggested by Lokman, as he was merely giving his statement.
He tweeted that he would give full cooperation to the MACC.
FMT has contacted the MACC and Zahid for further comments. -FMT
