KUALA TERENGGANU: Event organisers wishing to hold shows in Terengganu may need to follow new conservative guidelines released by the state tourism department.
A copy of the guidelines shared with journalists through WhatsApp showed 11 rules organisers would have to follow if they wished to hold shows in the state.
Topping the list is the separation between men and women on stage and in the audience.
The first rule dictates that stage shows can only be performed by male singers and dancers.
.Female performers can only perform to a female audience behind closed doors.
There also cannot be any "excessive mixing" between male and female performers on stage.
However, children's shows are exempted from following the gender separation rules.
Additionally, organisers are tasked to make sure that men and women who are not kin cannot mix freely with each other.
State exco chairman for Tourism, Culture and Information Technology is expected to go into further details about the guidelines at a press conference on Wednesday (Oct 3) after the weekly exco meeting.- Star
