WARISAN has opened its doors to opposition politicians, including from Umno, who want to cross over to the ruling party, the party’s secretary-general said.
Loretto Padua said today the matter had been decided at a supreme council meeting on August 8, adding that Warisan expected more politicians to switch sides soon.
“There are more to come (aside from the Labuan MP Rozman Isli). But I don’t want to reveal (their names).
“Our main interest is not to have enemies but for all camps to work together for the betterment of Sabah,” he said after accepting the membership application of the Labuan MP.
Warisan now has nine MPs in Parliament.
So far, seven Umno assemblymen and MPs have declared themselves to be independents, including Sukau assemblyman Saddi Abdul Rahman and Kimanis MP Anifah Aman.
Loretto said his priority was to ensure Warisan strengthens its position in Sabah and Labuan.
He said for the betterment of Sabah, there should be no disputing camps in state politics.
Rozman had earlier today announced he was joining Warisan.
He said he made the move in the interest of the island’s future.
