Umno has denied claims that its headquarters at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur was raided by the police, MACC and Registrar of Societies (ROS) this morning.
Party executive secretary Mohd Sumali Reduan said the photographs which had gone viral on social media were that of Umno staff arranging and updating administrative files.
“News of the raid is not true. The photos are of Umno staff themselves doing updates and carrying out their daily routine of arranging documents,” he added, according to Umno Online.
Mohd Sumali also said Umno is willing to cooperate with the authorities.
Umno's former president Najib Abdul Razak and current president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi have both come under the crosshairs of the authorities.
Najib has been slapped with a slew of charges whereas Zahid is currently at the MACC headquarters having his statement recorded for the third day in a row.
Umno is also embroiled in a legal tussle with the police over the more than RM100 million in cash seized from residences linked to Najib.
Both its former president and Umno have claimed that the money belongs to the party and was in the process of being transferred to the new leadership following Najib's resignation. -Mkini
