Why didn't you reopen murder cases when you were PM? - Kit Siang asks Najib

DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang wants former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak to explain why he did not reopen the cases of several high-profile murders while he was still in power.
“He should answer why is it he didn’t reopen investigations when he was prime minister,” Lim said to reporters after attending a ceramah in Lukut, Port Dickson today.
The cases Lim was referring to were the murders of Ambank founder and banker Hussain Najadi, deputy public prosecutor Kevin Morais, Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu and the death of DAP political aide Teoh Beng Hock.
Lim was responding to a reporter’s question about Najib’s latest statement where the former premier said that the reason the Pakatan Harapan government did not want to reopen probes into the said cases, is because it will be proven that he was not involved in them, after all.
"It was Kit Siang who last week wanted to reopen investigations into the murder cases.
"When I agreed with the reopening of cases, it was Kit Siang who had then said there was no need for the cases to be probed again. Who is not rational?" Najib wrote in a Facebook post.
The Harapan government's unwillingness to review the cases, proves that he is not at all involved in any of the deaths, Najib added.
"If there is not going to be special probes into the case, then there is no need to link my name to them anymore.
"They (the government) know that if they reopen probes into the cases, it will prove that I was not involved at all, and that I had been slandered by them for years".
Lim and Najib have been engaged in a war of words over the past few days, ever since Lim urged the government to think about reopening the high-profile cases.
Najib had then responded, saying that he welcomes fresh investigations as it was high time “justice is served” to him. - Mkini
