PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) confirmed that it recorded the statement of Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s daughter Datuk Nurulhidayah today.
MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki when contacted confirmed this, adding that they had also recorded the statement of Ahmad Zahid’s brother Datuk Seri Mohamad Nasaee Ahmad Tarmizi.
“The two of them recorded their statements today, won’t be continued tomorrow,” he said.
Earlier, Nurulhidayah said the reason she was present at the MACC headquarters today was only to accompany her dad.
She said this in response to a question if she had been questioned by the graftbusters, replying with a solid no, that she was not there to have her statement recorded.
“No, I only accompany him (Zahid),” she said as she was making her way out of the headquarters at about 4.52pm.
However, in a tweet posted by Ahmad Zahid after leaving the MACC headquarters at 5.40pm, he said, “I have finished giving my statement to the MACC today. On my way home. Thank you all for your prayers. My daughter too has completed giving her statement.”
Azam also said Ahmad Zahid had been asked to be present at the commission’s headquarters again tomorrow morning.
The former deputy prime minister arrived at 9.20am today and spent more than eight hours at the MACC headquarters before leaving at 5.40pm.
