KOTA KINABALU: A man has been hospitalised after he was assaulted by at least seven men in Sabah’s east coast Tawau district here early this morning.
The attack, which occurred at about 1.30am, was caught on video which has since gone viral on social media.
The video showed a group of young men kicking and hitting the victim who was lying motionless on the road.
At one point, a motorcyclist could be seen trying to run over the victim but was persuaded not to do so by another man wearing a helmet.
District police chief Fadil Marsus said the 35-year-old victim was rushed to the hospital by passers-by following the incident at Fajar town.
He said the victim also sustained a stab wound, adding that the man was still unconscious but reported to be in stable condition.
“The man had earlier escaped after being stabbed but his assailants caught up with him.
“We have yet to establish the motive for the attack,” Fadil said, urging witnesses to come forward. -FMT
