MCA AGM | Five MCA central delegates staged a walkout from the party's annual general meeting today in protest against a resolution to push for the dissolution of BN.
The group was unhappy that MCA opted to push for dissolving BN instead of leaving the coalition – which, according to Perlis MCA delegate Lok Kee Beng, is what the Chinese community wants.
"Today, we were here to decide if MCA should stay in BN," Lok told reporters after leaving the assembly with four of his colleagues.
Kepong delegate Lai Yoong Woon, meanwhile, questioned the wording of the resolution, which was put forward by MCA today.
"Why do you want us to endorse the central leadership to push for the dissolution of BN?" he asked.
Lai's colleague in Kepong division, Chua Leong Chew, said the resolution went against the message conveyed to the grassroots by MCA leaders.
"We were made to understand from the speeches of our leader that we are going to decide whether to quit," he said.
"This is not what the delegates wanted," he said.
