Home Minister and Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin has denied that he had made a statutory declaration on the transition of power between Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Anwar Ibrahim, which has gone viral today.
“I have asked the police to investigate this viral document, which I think was released to smear my good name,” the Home Minister said in a Facebook posttonight, adding the statement was false.
The statement, allegedly by Muhyiddin, lends Bersatu’s support to Anwar becoming the next prime Minister.
Meanwhile, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in a Facebook post tonight also denied he had made a similar statutory declaration in support of Anwar.
“I deny this. I did not sign this. This is slander by those who are desperate and irresponsible. This this is the work of people trying to tarnish my image.
“I wish to state any decision on this has to be made by the Umno leadership. It is not something I can do in my personal capacity,” he said in the statement.
