Kelantan Gerakan has no experience competing in any seat in the state, but that will not dither the party’s chapter from committing to help Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the upcoming 15th general election (GE15).
Its election director Ong Khang Woon pointed out its main objective is to ensure that the party representing PN wins in all 14 parliamentary seats in Kelantan.
"Kelantan Gerakan has never had the opportunity to contest and in GE15 we will not contest here either. We are more open and realistic.
"We give priority to component party members who are seen as having more potential.
"But we will also campaign as part of the PN machinery ahead of the polls," he said at a press conference in Kota Bharu, today.
Also present was Kelantan Gerakan chairperson Gan Awang.
Ong (above) added that Kelantan Gerakan will wait for the next chance for them to contest which is in the state polls.
"If it's the state assembly election, maybe we'll contest if there's an opportunity, but it depends on the situation and the decision of high-ranking leaders as well.
"At the moment we are focused on helping to ensure the victory of PN candidates whether from PAS or Bersatu," he said.
He added that Gerakan Kelantan has a membership of over 7,000 people, of whom 4,000 are categorised as active members. - Mkini
