After failing to unseat Hajiji, ‘pirates and plunderers’ must go, says GRS man

PETALING JAYA: A Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) leader has hit out at those behind an alleged failed move to oust Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor.

“This (attempted move to unseat Hajiji) was the work of pirates and plunderers. Enough is enough. They have to go,” said a GRS leader who declined to be named.

“Now they have been exposed. Everyone in Sabah knows who tried to topple Hajiji. They are ‘desperados’.”

The leader said although the move had fizzled out, he would not put it past the plotters to try again.

“They must understand that plots which threaten Sabah’s political stability will have an impact on the stability of the unity government in Putrajaya. I don’t think this is something Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim wants. I hope he will tell the schemers to go fly kites.”

The leader said the alleged plot to topple Hajiji highlighted the importance of an anti-hopping law in the state.

“The Sabah government must expedite the tabling of an anti-hopping law in the state assembly.”

Speculation that the Sabah state government led by Hajiji would soon collapse has been circulating on social media, with rumours claiming that Barisan Nasional and Warisan would join forces to form the new government.

However, GRS leaders have since dismissed the rumours, saying these were aimed at destabilising the political situation in the state.

The Hajiji-led state administration comprises GRS and BN. It is backed by 53 assemblymen in the Sabah legislative assembly, including seven who were appointed.

Warisan, with 19 seats, is the only party in the opposition, while Sabah PH, which earlier today reaffirmed its support for Hajiji, has seven seats in the state assembly. - FMT
