PETALING JAYA : Aides to two MPs from Pakatan Harapan have been summoned to the police station over a tweet linking Umno Youth to a commotion at a ceramah by Muda.

Noor Suhana Ishak, the aide to DAP’s Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman was summoned to the Sentul police station.

Economic affairs minister Rafizi Ramli’s press secretary Farhan Iqbal was summoned to the Putrajaya police station.

The matter was confirmed by Suhana in a tweet.

She said that both Farhan and herself will be investigated for criminal defamation and misuse of network facilities.

Earlier today, DAP’s Jelutong MP RSN Rayer urged the police and home affairs minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to explain why Suhana was being investigated for her tweet.

“Shouldn’t the police investigate whether or not the commotion happened during the talk organised by Muda last year and who was responsible for starting the commotion instead?

“Why are the police wasting time and resources investigating Suhana?”

Meanwhile, Muda information chief Luqman Long was surprised by the police decision to call Suhana, who lodged a complaint about the incident after it occurred.

“In fact, the disturbance also turned into a provocation as some people were injured after having objects thrown at them by the group.

“For me, the police investigation should focus on the mastermind behind the provocation.”

In a post on Twitter, Suhana said she had “heard” that Umno Youth members had disrupted a ceramah featuring Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

She also labelled the group as “gangsters”.

However, in a Twitter thread, she emphasised that she had only heard that Umno Youth members were behind the disturbance.

“When someone says that they ‘heard’ of such claims, there is a possibility that the claims are either correct or false. I never said it was Umno Youth.”

The group of 30 had also allegedly revved their motorcycles and called Syed Saddiq, the Muar MP, a liar.

In videos of the incident posted on social media, police were seen blocking the group from approaching further. - FMT
