Covid-19 (Jan 23): 142 new cases, no deaths

 


COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 142 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 5,034,972.

Active infections stood at 10,212, down 10.5 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (53)
Kuala Lumpur (27)
Malacca (10)
Negeri Sembilan (10)
Johor (8)
Putrajaya (7)
Kedah (6)
Perak (4)
Terengganu (4)
Pahang (3)
Sarawak (3)
Kelantan (2)
Penang (2)
Sabah (2)
Perlis (1)
Labuan (0)


There were no deaths attributed to Covid-19 yesterday.

Over the past week, an average of 2.6 people were reported to have died of the disease while the average for the past 30 days was 3.4, indicating that such deaths are on the downtrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,932 deaths have been attributed to the coronavirus.

Some 337 Covid-19 patients are in the hospital of which 16 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Kedah (64) followed by Sabah (45) and Selangor (26). - Mkini
