Sabah Deputy Chief Minister I Jeffrey Kitingan claimed that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is satisfied with the state's new cabinet line-up.
“Yes, yes he already called us…the chief minister (Hajiji Noor) last night,” Jeffrey (above) said when asked if Anwar is happy with how the state administration has shaped up.
He said this when met by reporters in front of the Sabah state palace right after the swearing-in ceremony for the new state cabinet this morning.
Hajiji reshuffled the state cabinet after the bulk of Sabah BN - led by Bung Moktar Radin - pulled support for the chief minister.
This led to a political crisis, in which Anwar tried to play the role of a mediator - after Hajiji had already secured a majority including support from five rogue BN assemblypersons.
It is learnt that Anwar had suggested a unity government to be formed in Sabah, and for Hajiji to reconcile with Bung.
However, Bung - who was deputy chief minister I prior to this morning - was dropped from the state cabinet and two of the five BN rebels are now in the state cabinet instead.
Harapan's Christina Liew and Phoong Jin Zhe were also made Sabah ministers.
Jeffrey said the new cabinet line-up is ‘more complete’ with the addition of a woman leader and Harapan state assemblypersons.
