Kedah MB: PN can capture 33 out of 36 state seats in polls

Kedah Perikatan Nasional (PN) chief Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has expressed confidence that the coalition can capture 33 out of 36 state seats in the upcoming state election.

According to him, the projection is based on the results of the 15th general election (GE15), where PN managed to garner 14 out of the 15 parliamentary seats contested.

"We know it would happen. Pakatan Harapan will work with BN, as they already do at the federal level, so it would be the same at the state level.

"I have looked at the numbers in Kedah. If you add up the votes for Harapan and BN, PN can still emerge as the winner and continue to administer.

“They (Harapan and BN) only stand a chance to win three state seats, namely Kota Darul Aman, Bakar Arang and Sidam," Astro Awani quoted the Kedah menteri besar telling reporters after attending a function with state civil servants in Alor Setar, today.

Sanusi (above), who is also a PAS lawmaker, added that the support for PN has been steadily increasing post-GE15, and this would ensure the coalition retains power in the state.

"We have done our best, and the rakyat is watching. So are the ones who preached this and that during election campaigning.

"But they have been the government for more than a month, and they still don't know what to do," he said, in reference to Harapan and BN, which are part of the current federal government.

It is worth noting that on Dec 8, Sanusi remarked that PN could win all 36 state seats available in Kedah. - Mkini
