Transport Minister Anthony Loke urged the people to give the government more time to improve public transport.
According to DAP party organ The Rocket, the Seremban MP told Chinese radio station AiFM in a recent interview that improvements will not come the next day with the changing of a minister.
"It's not that after changing the (transport) minister, all problems will be solved the next day. I am not Superman... that everything will be all right with just one spot check on the public transport.
"I want to give people one message: this minister will listen to the problems you face, understand your concerns and pains."
"Hence, I will put focus on how to solve the problem, not that it can be solved immediately, but I will try hard to find the solution.
"This is the pressure I put myself (under); whether it can be implemented or improved, it definitely needs a period of time..."
Loke (above) said there would be key performance indicators to be implemented in the public transport sector to measure its performance.
"There will be some systems to measure the (performance) of the public transport sector in the future; for example, how far a train can run before it breaks down once. If the mileage is higher before it breaks down once, it means the standard is better."
"In Singapore, it (the train) only breaks down five minutes after 2 million km. This standard may be very far for us at the moment, but we will use this type of measurement in the future."
He said the operators of public transport must now focus on improving maintenance.
"It's not merely the responsibility of the technicians, but the whole management must implement the changes.
"All departments and organisations must shift the focus there (maintenance)... then we will see some improvements." - Mkini
