KUALA LUMPUR: Police reported 1,445 accidents nationwide on the fifth day of Op Selamat 19, which was launched in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.
Bukit Aman Federal Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (JSPT), in an infographic, states the accidents involved 1,724 vehicles, in which, 75.99 per cent or 1,310 cases involved cars.
A total of 230 cases involved four-wheel drives followed by motorcycles (8.35 per cent or 144 cases), lorries (17 cases) , buses (11 cases), vans (nine cases) and one ambulance.
"JSPT advises all road users to be alert while driving to avoid the risk of being involved in an accident," it said today.
Op Selamat 19, which was launched last Wednesday, will end on Friday (Jan 27). - NST
