PETALING JAYA: An investigation into the Wisma Jakel fire has found no criminal element, says Selangor fire and rescue department (JBPM) deputy director, Wan Razali Wan Ismail.
“The investigation into the Wisma Jakel fire has now entered the final stage and no criminal element has been detected at this stage. We are confident that we will be able to complete the investigation soon,” he told reporters at the Chinese New Year (CNY) fire safety campaign at a shopping centre in Damansara, here, today.
The five-storey Wisma Jakel building was destroyed in a fire earlier this month.
Selangor JBPM had mobilised its K9 tracker dog unit to conduct forensic work and determine the cause of the fire.
At the same time, Shah Alam police chief Iqbal Ibrahim urged the public not to speculate on the incident.
Jakel Group managing director Faroz Jakel said the company had so far estimated losses to be in the range of RM100 million. - FMT
