KUALA LUMPUR: MCA has invited the public to share the festive joy at its Chinese New Year open house.
Its secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon said it has been a tradition for the party to host the event and celebrate with the people on the first day of the festival.
This year, the joyous occasion would be held in Dewan San Choon at Wisma MCA here at 9.30am on Jan 22, he announced.
“As we usher in the Year of the Water Rabbit, MCA welcomes all Malaysians to join us in the celebration as we wish for a year that brings great health, stability and prosperity for the nation.
“There will be a lion dance performance and light refreshments for all our guests,” he added in a statement.
Chong said the Lunar New Year is an important festival for the Chinese as it signifies the return of Spring and a renewal of all things.
In Malaysia’s multicultural society, the celebration is shared by all ethnicities, he noted.
Chong said the celebration was restricted to invited guests last year due to pandemic control and preventive measures.
“With the Covid-19 situation under control now, once again, we are welcoming everyone to our open house to celebrate the festival together,” he added. - Star
