Selayang PBM division disbanded due to loss of confidence in Sng

Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM)’s Selayang division has announced its disbandment, said division leader JC Jess Choy.

She said the division had lost confidence in PBM president Larry Sng who broke his promise to make way for PBM founder Zuraida Kamaruddin to lead the party.

“Sng disobeyed the decision made during PBM’s annual general meeting last October which unanimously passed the motion to allow Zuraida to lead the party.

“In addition, he has also abused his power by sacking 13 senior party leaders, including Zuraida, without consulting the party’s supreme council,” she was quoted as saying by Free Malaysia Today.

Choy said that the committee members would continue to remain in the party as members and support the six pillars of the party’s agenda.

Previously, Pahang PBM also disbanded its state committee and eight divisions registered with the Registrar of Societies.

The eight disbanded divisions are Raub, Indera Mahkota, Kuantan, Paya Besar, Temerloh, Bentong, Bera, and Rompin.

Sacking of Zuraida

Zuraida is a former PKR vice-president and one of those involved in the 2020 Sheraton Move, which caused the collapse of the then Pakatan Harapan administration which came to power following the 2018 general election.

She had initially joined Bersatu before going into PBM.

Zuraida was sacked last December after she and her associates allegedly failed to respond to show cause letters issued by PBM on Dec 19.

During PBM's AGM in early October, it was decided that Zuraida - who was the party's "president-designate" - to officially take over the party leadership from Sng.

However, Sng threw a wrench in the plan, saying he was still the party president as per the Registrar of Societies.

He then declared the supreme council meeting which approved Zuraida’s transition as invalid and suspended her and 12 others.

They had put the tussle on hold for the 15th general election - a contest which saw Sng as the only PBM candidate to win a seat while Zuraida and party deputy president Haniza Talha - who is allied to the latter - lost their deposits.

After GE15, Zuraida and Haniza accused Sng of abusing his authority. - Mkini
