The Dark Future Of The UK - Total Collapse? Dont Panic.

First a short video about the UK breaking up:

No there will not be a Civil War in the UK in another 10 years.

Ok first to digress a little : If you noticed the US Dollar has been sliding downwards. Since January 2023 began 17 days ago, the US$ has lost about 10% of its value against most other major currencies.

Here is today's chart for the Euro vs US$.

The US Dollar is less than ONE Euro.  Some folks are already predicting the crash and collapse of not only the US Dollar but of the entire concept of fiat currency. I think these are the same global warming and woke people frightening you and me - for their profit.

The Ringgit has also strengthened to about RM4.32 to the US$. (It is not because of 'keyakinan dalam dasar-dasar kerajaan' - dont joke. The US$ is just weakening).

A weaker US$ is actually good for the world economy because 60% of world trade is still transacted in US$. This means most countries around the world will be paying less for their imports.

But on the flip-side of the coin it also means that Malaysia will earn less from our exports - especially our oil and gas exports which are all priced in US$.  If the US$ crashes by 10% our oil and gas earnings will also crash by 10%. That is a lot of money.

(So the Treasury boys better keep an eye on the government's earnings from oil and gas "dividends" - for that Budget speech soon. I really hope it is not going to be another melodramatic tongue twister - with syahdan, masygul or whatever).

Ok folks about that video above - I have written about this already - some months ago. The UK will not break up in a hundred years. It is going to happen quite soon - beginning in 2023.

The Scots will be having yet another referendum on their independence from the UK:

Proposed second Scottish independence referendum - In June 2022, ..announced plans to hold a referendum on 19 October 2023.  In July 2022, the Scottish Greens announced that they would fight the next general election as a referendum instead. Following the Supreme Court decision, the SNP stated that it wanted to amend the Scotland Act 1998 in order to enable the holding of a referendum in 2023.

I think the 2nd referendum will happen in 2023 and this time the Scots will break away from the UK. Its going to happen.

Then Northern Ireland will also be wanting to re-join the Republic of Ireland.

In the 2016 referendum over Britain leaving the European Union, 62% of Scots and 58% of Northern Ireland voted against BREXIT.  The Scots and the Irish want to remain with the European Union. Which is also fueling the renewed push for Scottish and (northern) Irish independence from the UK.

And if you watch  'The Crown' series on Netflix you will see that there has been an old independence spirit in Wales as well. Everyone wants to be free of the United Kingdom. (The UK is made up of England, Scotland, Northern Island and Wales.) Actually the others do not like the English - the only nuts left in the box.

But will the "British" Isles collapse - like what that video is saying above? No I really dont think so. The English monarchy alone has a history of over 1200 years and the English people have existed since long before that. By any measure they were and still are a great people. In my personal view the greatest race of human beings that ever existed - despite their cruelties, barbarities and brutish behaviour towards other peoples - even until today.

They have also brought immeasurable progress, modernisation and civilisation (relative) to huge areas of the globe. They have gifted the world their English language which is now the most common language of communication in the world. And now they have hoisted a brownie Indian from their colonies as their prime minister.

The United Kingdom might break up as a political union but the English people, the Scotsmen, the Welsh and the Irish will go on in history for a very long time to come.

The views expressed are those of the writer and do not necessarily reflect those of MMKtT.
