KOTA KINABALU: Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has arrived at the Sabah Umno headquarters here for a meeting with the state’s political leaders amid last week’s move to oust Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor.
Zahid arrived at the building at around 8.20pm and was accompanied by Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin.
Also present at the building are 13 Barisan Nasional members of the state assembly and other Sabah Umno leaders. However, five Sabah Umno assemblymen who have refused to be part of the move to oust Hajiji were not seen at party headquarters.
Anwar Ibrahim, the Pakatan Harapan chairman and prime minister, is also expected to meet leaders of Sabah Umno and other parties such as Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and Warisan in Kota Kinabalu tonight.
On Friday, Sabah Barisan Nasional and Umno retracted their support for Hajiji amid speculation that Sabah Umno and Warisan were looking to work together to form the state government.
The five Sabah Umno assemblymen who have backed Hajiji as chief minister are Shahelmey Yahya (Tanjung Keramat), Jasni Daya (Pantai Dalit), James Ratib (Sugut), Yusof Yacob (Sindumin) and Arsad Bistari (Tempasuk). - FMT
