Businessperson Albert Tei, who exposed the Sabah mining scandal, has been summoned by Bukit Aman’s Classified Crimes Unit tomorrow.
Tei (above) said he was informed that it is to facilitate investigations into a police report concerning Sofia Rini Buyong, who appeared in a video implicating Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s former political aide, Shamsul Iskandar Akin, in the scandal.
“They will try their best to make things difficult for me, mentally torment me, and intimidate me so that I keep silent. They have power now and can do anything to me.
“However, I want to tell them that I will not back down no matter what happens to me; the fight remains.
“It is possible that I will be arrested and remanded by the police during the investigation,” Tei added in a statement.
In the videos, the woman accused of being Shamsul’s proxy also implicated Anwar and MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki.

She was recorded as telling Tei that Shamsul had purportedly asked Azam to “ease his (Tei’s) case”.
When Tei asked the woman whether Shamsul told the MACC chief that the Sabah scandal recordings were “PMX’s orders”, the woman replied: “Azam knows”.
‘Lies, slander’
However, the woman later denied being Shamsul’s proxy but admitted to meeting Tei. She accused the businessperson of spreading lies and slander.
Shamsul had announced his resignation on Nov 25 as Anwar’s political aide on the same day Malaysiakini contacted him for comments on Tei’s allegation that he had spent RM629,000 on him after being purportedly assured that he could recoup the money channelled to politicians in Sabah.

Subsequently, both Tei and Shamsul were charged in connection with the case.
Since November 2024, Tei has released a slew of videos and screenshots of WhatsApp messages implicating more than a dozen politicians in the mining scandal. - Mkini
