MyKasih, Budi95 glitch not caused by MyKad change - Saifuddin

KUALA LUMPUR: Data-matching issues affecting Malaysians who have replaced their MyKad under the MyKasih and Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) programmes are not due to the loss or deletion of information on the identity card.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said basic personal identification details, including the MyKad number and citizenship records, remained intact and unchanged when an identity card was replaced.

He said that to ensure data alignment with the Finance Ministry (MoF), the National Registration Department (NRD) supplied records of any data changes, including details of newly issued MyKad version numbers, on a daily basis.

This, he said, enabled MoF systems to be updated by the next working day at the latest, ensuring continuity and consistency of MyKad holders' data.

"However, for the implementation of government assistance initiatives such as MyKasih and Budi95, data updates at the MoF system level are carried out periodically, either on a weekly or monthly basis.

"As such, if applicants or recipients use a newly issued identity card during the transition period — that is, before the latest MyKad version number has been updated in the MoF assistance system — there may be a temporary situation in which the MyKasih and Budi95 systems are unable to find a data match.

"This is despite the fact that the MyKad holder's personal data has never been lost or deleted," he said in a written reply published on Parliament's website.

Saifuddin Nasution was responding to a question from Jimmy Puah Wee Tse (PH–Tebrau), who asked whether data under the MyKasih and Budi95 schemes could be lost when Malaysians replace their identity cards.

At the same time, Saifuddin said that the issue was temporary and technical in nature, stemming from differences in data update cycles between agencies, rather than any loss of MyKad data or eligibility for assistance.

He added that ongoing cooperation between NRD and the MoF continued to be strengthened to ensure more efficient data synchronisation and the smooth delivery of government assistance initiatives to the public. - NST
