Fadhli dares Selangor exco to prove PAS received 'undisclosed funds'

PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has sharply rebuked an Amanah assemblyperson following the latter’s claims that the Islamist party had received “undisclosed funds”.

Training his guns on Selangor executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Izham Hashim, Fadhli took aim at comments made by the former PAS man during a TikTok livestream, with a clip of the session uploaded on the social media platform.

“I watched this video, which is full of slander and lies… To this person, please prove your allegation, since you are now part of the federal government,” the Pasir Mas MP said in a Facebook post today.

“I advise this individual to focus on carrying out his duties in resolving the pig farming issue in Selangor instead of busying himself with spreading slander.”

In the video referred to by Fadhli, Izham also claimed that when he was the Selangor PAS treasurer before joining Amanah, then-Selangor menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim had told him that “donations” for the party’s election preparations were handed over to PAS central headquarters.

“Not a single sen went to Selangor PAS,” the Pandan Indah assemblyperson said in the clip, which also featured several other TikTok users as part of the live session.

Denying the matter, Fadhli challenged Izham to provide evidence to support his claims, adding that similar previous accusations against PAS remain unproven.

“Ask PMX (Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim), who once alleged that PAS received RM90 million from Umno… to direct an investigation and prove it immediately.

“Not only did PMX fail to prove (his claim), but it was further compounded by allegations that the opposition received gambling funds, which to this day also remain unproven,” Fadhli said.

RM90m and funds from gambling companies

In 2019, Anwar claimed he would reveal the identities of PAS leaders who had allegedly received RM90 million from Umno.

Three years later, in reiterating the party’s denial of such claims, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said handing tens of millions of ringgit to PAS would have been suicidal for Umno, as it would allow the former to capture the entire nation.

Following the outcome of the 15th general election, which saw Anwar become prime minister, the PKR president implied that opposition coalition Perikatan Nasional’s election funds partly came from gaming companies involved in special draws.

On the heels of backlash from opposition leaders, Anwar had doubled down on his claim, insisting that he “does not speak without evidence”.

PAS, a PN component member, had highlighted that it would be illogical for gaming companies to fund the coalition’s election campaign, considering how it was bent on shutting down such establishments.

The party’s secretary-general, Takiyuddin Hassan, also described the “wild accusations” as baseless and called on Anwar to present evidence. - Mkini
