THE National DAP Socialust Youth (DAPSY) take note of the firmness of UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to continue with the unity government until end of the current term.
With that, the “exiting Madani government” gimmick orchestrated by UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh in recent times has proven to be a political joke that embarrasses himself.

If Akmal is truly principled, he can resign from his Melaka state EXCO position immediately without having to wait any longer.
If he still retains his current position, then he should swallow his words and put a stop to all actions and rhetoric that are intended to damage the government’s efforts towards the reform agenda and for the well-being of the rakyat.
The UMNO president’s statement that UMNO “does not want to be bitten by the same snake a second time” has closed the room for speculation on UMNO-PAS negotiations.

Akmal’s perverse interpretation that “the UMNO president agrees to cooperate in unifying the Malays” is clearly an attempt to confuse the people and disrespect the party’s own stance.
The PAS-led Perikatan Nasional (PN) is a coalition of parties that has failed to present constructive policies but instead continuing to play racial and religious politics. In matters related to national policies, especially the cost of living and institutional reform, PAS only protests without solutions.
The increasingly apparent internal conflict between Bersatu and PAS in PN has once again proven that this type of politics that is not based on good governance is ultimately self-defeating. Our country needs a political party/coalition that guarantees stability and efficiency – and certainly not a divisive PN.
DAPSY wishes to remind that the experience of 2020-2022 clearly shows that the joint “unification” between UMNO-PAS-Bersatu has brought instability and loss of seats to UMNO itself.
Any effort to repeat the same move is only betraying the rakyat‘s mandate and jeopardising the future of the party itself.
On this note, DAPSY stresses that the main focus now is to drive economic recovery, ease the cost of living and continue reforms. The rakyat are not interested in the drama of power struggles but only require a stable and able-bodied government.
Akmal must resign immediately and implement his stance which is to leave the unity government. Don’t just talk for the sake of talking but don’t walk the talk.
National DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) chief Woo Kah Leong is also the first-term Pasir Bedamar state assemblyman and Perak state EXCO for Domestic Trade, Consumer Affairs, Cooperatives and Chinese New Villages.
