Perikatan Nasional deputy-secretary general Takiyuddin Hassan said the coalition’s next supreme council meeting is expected to be held this month, pending confirmation from all four party presidents.
The Kota Bharu MP said invitation letters were sent on Tuesday, and that at least one component party president had responded, indicating a possible date after Feb 19.
“We are now setting the date. The date will be set so that all four presidents can attend, with no exceptions.
“Right now, I am waiting for the date agreed upon by all. We hope it will not go beyond this month. That is the latest development.
“One said from 20th onwards, while the rest have yet to respond,” he told a press conference in Parliament today.

Yesterday, PAS vice-president Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar expressed confidence that the PN leadership turmoil can be overcome at the next supreme council meeting.
Since Muhyiddin Yassin’s resignation as PN chairperson, effective Jan 1, the question of his successor has remained, with PAS staking its claim to the post but yet to name a candidate.
Disputed ‘consensus’
Leaked letters between Muhyiddin and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang also revealed opposing views on a purported resolution to the crisis, based on a Jan 16 meeting between the two leaders and several other top leaders from both parties.
Among others, Muhyiddin claimed that an agreement had been reached to establish a presidential council led by Bersatu and an executive council led by PAS, and to abolish the position of PN chairperson.
Hadi, in a purported letter responding to Muhyiddin, claimed that the proposed resolution referred to by the Bersatu leader was neither discussed nor agreed to.
An earlier PN supreme council meeting scheduled for Jan 29, called by Takiyuddin, which allegedly included the agenda of appointing a new PN chairperson, was cancelled as a “pre-council” meeting was taking place on the same day at Muhyiddin’s residence.
Takiyuddin had called the pre-council meeting “unconstitutional”. - Mkini
