KINABATANGAN: Tragedy struck a father on Tuesday when he witnessed his son being attacked by a crocodile at Kampung Segaliud during a fishing trip.

The victim, Mohd Rayyan Abdullah, 28, had gone shrimp fishing in the river with his father.

He remains missing after the attack.

Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station chief Hairi Otuh said they received a call at 8.22pm.

The distance from the station to the village is about 30km, and the team arrived at the scene at 9.10pm.

"The victim's father said he saw his son being attacked by the crocodile right before his eyes.

"The search and rescue operation is still ongoing, involving four personnel. So far, the victim has not been found," he said when contacted here. - NST
