KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu today sacked two assemblymen and suspended five members of parliament, along with several other party members, over disciplinary breaches.
The party disciplinary board said the two assemblymen sacked were Dzowahir Ab Ghani (Suka Menanti) and Abdul Razak Khamis (Sungai Tiang).
Also sacked was Armada deputy chief Faiz Rahmad.
The five MPs suspended were Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah), Datuk Abdul Khalib Abdullah (Rompin), Nordin Ahmad Ismail (Lumut), Datuk Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu) and Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor (Ketereh).
Also suspended were Chenderoh assemblyman Syed Lukman Hakim Syed Mohd Zain and Kuala Sepetang assemblyman Ahmad Man.
The disciplinary action, which took effect today, was carried out under Clause 22.5 of the party constitution.
Bersatu Disciplinary Board chairman Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan, who signed the notices, said those suspended would face a two-term suspension from party elections, effective immediately.
"All seven were found to have violated Clause 9.1.4 of the Bersatu constitution, as well as the party's code of ethics and code of conduct.
"Following the suspension, they have been stripped of all party positions and are barred from making statements on behalf of Bersatu until the suspension period ends," he said in a statement.
However, those sacked and suspended may appeal to the party's Appeals Board within 14 days from the date of the notice.
As of 8.30pm, no further action had been announced. - NST
