EVEN THE strong and mighty will fall someday. Some of them fall, literally, in the toilet at their own house.
Yet they continue to preserve, as seen in the latest lament by Tun Mahathir on X.
According to him in the short post, he failed to unite the Malays even after trying for a period of two years.
“Therefore, this beloved nation will slip from the hands of the Malays,” he prophesied, adding that the history of the Malays will end because they prioritise the fate of their leaders over that of their race, nation, and religion.
This is not the first time Mahathir made such bleak statements, and likely, it will not be his last. And netizens are ready to meet his statements too, long or short, with their own opinions.
“It’s not impossible what Tun said will become reality. Because many things Tun said which would become reality have already happened,” said a believer.

Netizen @psikosong pointed out that the election is near, and wondered if such narratives are still popular to unite the Malays. “After winning, fight again,” he added.
Check out the photo comments too:

“It’s always about narratives slipping away from the Malay nation to other nations. How do you unite the Malay nation if you’re constantly using messages laced with hatred?” said a sceptical @Jake_J88.
Then there was @aaagvp claiming that the roots of Malay division began in 1993. According to him, many political and historical analysts describe the UMNO 1993 elections as the dark point where “money politics” began to spread massively within the party.
“Tun Ghafar had suggested that high UMNO positions should simply be auctioned off,” he said.
“I may not agree with some of your opinions, Tun, but I do respect you as somebody who has helped the nation,” said @HezeriSamsuri, among many other things.

Another netizen said his teacher once said that the religious scholars always prayed for Mahathir to have a long life, so he can witness his own mistakes later.

Whether Tun’s latest warning is prophecy, political nostalgia or simply another episode in Malaysia’s never-ending drama series is up for debate.
But one thing is certain — as long as Tun Mahathir keeps posting, Malaysians will keep replying, analysing and occasionally roasting him in the comment section.
At this rate, the nation may not unite anytime soon, but at least the timeline remains entertained. — Focus Malaysia
