Diesel in West Malaysia, unsubsidised RON95 up 5 sen

These prices are effective tomorrow until May 13.

PETALING JAYA:
The prices of unsubsidised RON95 petrol and diesel in West Malaysia will go up by five sen from tomorrow, the finance ministry has announced.

In a statement, the ministry said the price of unsubsidised RON95 will rise from RM3.97 a litre to RM4.02, while diesel in West Malaysia will retail at RM5.17 a litre, up from RM5.12 currently.

The price of RON97 will remain at RM4.90 a litre, while diesel in East Malaysia will continue to be sold at RM2.15 per litre.

Subsidised petrol under the subsidised petrol control system (SKPS) will remain at RM2.05 per litre, while subsidised diesel under the subsidised diesel control system (SKDS) will remain at RM2.15 per litre.

These prices are effective until May 13.

The finance ministry said crude oil prices remain over US$100 a barrel, with supply disruptions caused by damage to production and refining facilities in the Middle East still affecting the market.

“The government urges the public to use fuel prudently to help maintain supply stability,” it said.

Nonetheless, it said the government will continue taking prudent measures to ensure that Malaysians do not fully bear the impact of rising global oil prices. - FMT
