Friday Notes From The Quran (1st May 2026) - Noah and Abraham

 

Here are some Quran verses I chanced upon about Noah and Abraham. 

37:79  سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ  :   “Peace upon Noah among the worlds.”

37:80  إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ  :  Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

37:81  إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ :  Indeed, he (Noah) was of Our believing servants.

37:82  ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ :  Then We drowned the others.

37:83 وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِ لَإِبْرَاهِيمَ :  And indeed, among his group (shia-tihi) was Abraham.

Here are some other English translations of the last verse 37:83

Mohammad Shaikh: And that truly from his group/party/follower (was) Abraham 
Arberry: Of his party was also Abraham;
Sarwar: Abraham was one of his followers.
Maulana Ali: And surely of his party was Abraham.
Qaribullah: Of his party was Abraham.
Khalifa: Among his followers was Abraham.

Here is 57:26  which also mentions  Noah and Abraham ( ا نُوحًا وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ ) :

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِي ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا النُّبُوَّةَ وَالْكِتَابَ فَمِنْهُم مُّهْتَدٍ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ   :   And We have already sent Noah and Abraham and placed in their descendants prophethood and scripture; and among them is the guided (muhtadin), but many of them are defiantly disobedient (fasikoon).

Here are verses 29:15 and 29:16 which mention Noah and Abraham: 

29:15 -16 

فَأَنجَيْنَاهُ وَأَصْحَابَ السَّفِينَةِ وَجَعَلْنَاهَا آيَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ     
وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ ۖ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ   

So We saved him (Noah) and the companions of the ship, and We made it a sign for the worlds. And Abraham when he said to his people, “Worship Allah and fear Him. That is better for you, if you should know.”
