SEREMBAN: An e-hailing driver was left baffled after an argument over a RM7 fare escalated into a heated dispute, during which a passenger allegedly became aggressive and hit his wife.
The four-minute video, uploaded by Rakyat E-Hailing MY on Facebook, has since gone viral.
The driver shared a recording of the tense encounter, which began when the male passenger handed over a RM50 note to pay for the RM7 ride.
The driver explained that he did not have enough small change to return the RM43 balance.
"I don't have small change. Usually, customers I take have smaller denominations such as RM10 or RM20," he said.
An argument then ensued, with the passenger saying he did not want to pay the fare.
The driver replied that he was fine if the passenger chose not to pay.
"If you don't want to pay, it's fine. I will lodge a complaint," he said.
The passenger took offence at the suggestion, arguing that it was the driver's responsibility to ensure adequate change was available.
The exchange grew increasingly heated as the passenger allegedly raised his voice.
The situation escalated further when the passenger's wife attempted to intervene and calm him down, but he allegedly struck her in a fit of rage.
The incident prompted the driver to ask both of them to exit the vehicle.
Rakyat E-Hailing MY said the driver has since lodged a formal report with Grab. - NST
