PETALING JAYA:
Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng has urged the police for updates on investigations into a case involving a teenager who allegedly threw a brick from a PPR flat in Desa Petaling, Kuala Lumpur.

In a statement today, Lim said more than three weeks had passed since the incident, with no clear update on whether the suspect had been charged in court.

He said that throwing objects from a height was a serious offence that could cause severe injury or death, and should not be treated lightly.

“In issues involving public safety, any delay or lack of information will only raise concern and erode confidence in law enforcement,” he said in a statement.

“I therefore urge the police to provide a transparent explanation on the status of the investigation, as well as any prosecutorial action that has been or will be taken.”

Lim also said that firm enforcement was necessary to ensure that justice is upheld and to send a clear message that potential threats to public safety will not be tolerated.

“Offenders must be given appropriate punishments as a lesson and deterrent to others.

“Without decisive action, such dangerous behaviour risks recurring and continuing to threaten the safety of the community,” he said.

Police recorded a statement from a 13-year-old boy suspected of throwing a brick from the 13th floor of a PPR flat in Desa Petaling after a video of the incident went viral.

Cheras police chief Rosdi Daud said the teenager, accompanied by his parents, presented himself at a police station, adding that no injuries were reported despite residents’ concern, Bernama reported. - FMT
