PETALING JAYA:
Former economy minister Rafizi Ramli spent about seven hours today giving a statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in connection with a probe into a RM1.1 billion investment deal.

MACC senior investigations director Hafaz Nazar said Rafizi arrived at the anti-graft agency’s headquarters in Putrajaya at around 10am and concluded giving his statement for today at around 7pm.

In a statement, Hafaz said the Pandan MP from PKR would be at the MACC headquarters again tomorrow afternoon for a third day of questioning.

Yesterday, Rafizi spent more than nine hours giving his statement to MACC investigators to assist in an investigation into a RM1.1 billion government deal with UK-based semiconductor company Arm Holdings.

MACC is investigating alleged misconduct in the strategic partnership agreement between the economy ministry and Arm Holdings.

It interviewed Rafizi’s former officer, James Chai, for three days last week.

The government had committed US$225 million (RM930.52 million) to a four-year partnership with Arm Holdings to lower barriers for Malaysian companies seeking access to its intellectual property and technology. - FMT
