Yusri replaces Azmi Abu Kassim who retired in December and whose role was taken over in the interim by his deputy Fisol Salleh.
Yusri was head of Bukit Aman’s traffic investigation and enforcement department before being transferred to lead the crime prevention and community safety department in January.
In a statement, Bukit Aman also announced a slew of new district police chiefs in Selangor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Sarawak and Terengganu.
Shah Alam police chief Ramsay Embol has been appointed Klang Utara police chief, while his previous post will be filled by Sarudin Samah, the previous Selama police chief.
Pasir Mas deputy police chief Aminuddin Raja Abdullah has been promoted to Seberang Perai Tengah police chief, while Hulu Selangor police chief Ibrahim Husin is now the head in Gombak.
Ibrahim’s previous post is taken over by M Manimaran, who was formerly deputy head of the Selangor police’s integrity and standards compliance department.
Bukit Aman traffic investigation and enforcement department principal assistant director (traffic control) Yatim Osman has been appointed the new Seremban police chief.
Padawan police chief Irwan Hafiz Radzi is now leading the force in the Kota Samarahan district, while Zahril Asri Zain is the new Setiu police chief. Zahril was formerly commanding officer of Unit 2 of the Johor Bahru Federal Reserve Unit. - FMT
