Bersatu vice-president Ahmad Faizal Azumu has described an internal PKR strategic analysis reported by Malaysiakini as "rude".
The Malaysiakini article, which highlighted that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s Tambun constituency is among the seats considered “marginal”, prompted Faizal (above, left) to sarcastically remark that the people of Tambun are now enjoying prosperity due to the efforts of a “God-given leader”.
“This is a rude analysis published by Malaysiakini that belittles the efforts of the Tambun MP.
“The people are now all living comfortably with even an excess of oil supplies,” he told Malaysiakini.
Earlier, an exclusive report by Malaysiakini revealed an internal PKR strategic analysis for the 16th general election presented by a senior leader recently, which disclosed a vastly different narrative from the image of stability the party sought to project.

The document, titled “GE16 Strategic Analysis: Tier-Based Summary”, sighted by Malaysiakini, shows that PKR is on the defensive, with its grip on key seats steadily eroding.
In the list of seats won during the last general election, several areas are now placed in the Tier 2B (marginal) category, including Tambun, which was won by PKR’s president Anwar.
‘A blessing’
In the 15th general election, Anwar won the seat with a majority of 3,735 votes in a tight contest against Faizal.
“Despite his status as prime minister, PKR’s internal data shows that sentiment in Tambun has not shifted into a safe zone. The analysis emphasises the need for ‘micro-level operations’ at the polling district machinery level.
“This means PKR can no longer rely on Anwar’s appeal as a national leader but must instead resolve highly localised and technical issues.
“Failure to retain Tambun would not only unseat an MP but would symbolically undermine the stability of the unity government,” a party headquarters source said.

Faizal further stressed how Anwar was a blessing, particularly to the voters in that area.
“This is a rude analysis of the Tambun MP. He is not only a God-given blessing to voters, but a blessing also enjoyed by nature, trees, chickens, ducks, and other animals,” said the former Perak menteri besar. - Mkini
