IPOH: A total of 230 students from the Tambun parliamentary constituency pursuing studies at institutions of higher learning have benefited from the Madani Educational Assistance Programme 2026, involving allocations amounting to RM178,000.
Special officer to the Tambun member of parliament, Mohamad Hairul Amir Sabri, said the programme was implemented as part of the Tambun MP's continuous efforts to ease the financial burden of students and their families amid rising education costs and living expenses throughout their studies at higher learning institutions.
He said the assistance saw diploma students receiving RM500 each, while undergraduate students received RM1,000 each to help cover learning needs, accommodation, transportation and basic study expenses.
"The symbolic handover of assistance to 10 students was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the launch of the Paduri Madani Scheme held at the Bandar Baru Tambun Multipurpose Hall today," he said in a statement tonight.
The remaining 220 students received their contributions at a separate ceremony launched by Mohamad Hairul Amir at Mydin Meru Raya on the same day.
He said the education assistance programme reflects the Tambun parliamentary service centre's continued commitment to education and human capital development, particularly among the younger generation.
"Apart from easing the financial burden on families, it is hoped that the initiative will boost student motivation to focus on their studies and achieve academic excellence in their respective fields.
"The Madani Educational Assistance Programme is also in line with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani, which emphasise the well-being of the people, human development, quality education and equitable opportunities for all, regardless of background," he said.
He said the Tambun Parliamentary Community Service Centre remains committed to strengthening various welfare and education initiatives to ensure that students, particularly in the Tambun constituency, continue to receive appropriate support in pursuing their studies and building a better future.
