IPOH: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, has consented to allow youths to deliver Friday sermons at mosques across the state tomorrow, in conjunction with National Youth Day on May 15.
Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) president Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini said Sultan Nazrin issued the decree in recognition of the vital role played by young people in nation-building.
He said His Royal Highness also decreed that the Friday sermon in Perak tomorrow would carry a youth-themed message titled "Belia: Tenaga Penggerak Kemajuan Negara" (Youth: The Driving Force of National Progress).
"The Perak State Youth and Sports Department has submitted 94 names of youth leaders who have received the Sultan of Perak's consent to deliver sermons at mosques and suraus for Friday prayers in Perak on May 8, 2026," he said in a statement today.
The youth leaders selected for the initiative are from organisations including the Islamic Youth Movement of Malaysia (Abim), district youth councils, Rakan Muda clubs and other youth organisations. - NST
