KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak-born menswear designer Dickson Lim has made the country proud after his bespoke creation made an appearance at the Met Gala in New York on Monday.
Lim's design was donned by Ty Hunter, the renowned stylist for global pop icon Beyonce, for the prestigious event.
He took to Instagram to share his disbelief and pride after discovering that his design, worn by Hunter, was also featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) alongside Beyonce.
"I genuinely thought this was fake for a second. My designs on the front cover of the Wall Street Journal... alongside Beyonce," he wrote in his post.
Describing the occasion as "surreal", Lim also expressed gratitude to the celebrity stylist.
"Thank you Ty, for helping realise a dream I never thought was possible," he added.
The remarkable achievement has since caught the attention of Malaysians, who flooded the Sarawakian designer's Instagram page to express their pride and congratulate him on his international recognition.
User @cookinghorsegirl cheered the designer on, commenting: "#MalaysiaBoleh!!"
Another user, @deeliciousmy, shared the collective excitement of the nation, writing: "I'm so freaking proud!!!!!" - NST
