An Amanah leader has ridiculed PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's statement claiming the Islamist party is not concerned whether they win or lose the elections.
“Who are you kidding? You set up a political party, enter the elections, always say Islam needs to be empowered to reign supreme, and after that you say it doesn't matter if you win or lose.
“What could be more hilarious than that? Be honest, lah!” wrote Sepang MP Hanipa Maidin (photo) on his Facebook today.

He was responding to Hadi's lengthy statement earlier today attacking Amanah.
Hadi, among others, accused Amanah leaders of leaving PAS after allegedly having failed to change the status of the party's powerful syura council, comprising the party's clerics, to take on a purely advisory role.
“They also failed to push PAS from behind to join BN, whereas they themselves have great desire to join them by using PAS as their means, because they want to find an easier way after facing an obstacle.
“BN however had no desire to accept them,” claimed Hadi.
“After they have failed in all their baiting, they spread rumours PAS wants to join BN, not they.

“They have been rejected by BN, rejected by PAS and there are signs they will be rejected by the people in the coming general election, insya Allah,” said Hadi in his statement generously peppered with Islamic quotes.
Hanipa, who quipped it was a struggle to finish reading Hadi's statement, said “even mad men would not believe his allegations”, particularly that of Amanah leaders wanting to join BN.
“We wouldn't have had to leave 'the holy party' (PAS) and build a new one from scratch, if the party you (Hadi) lead wasn't seen cosying up to BN and giving them numerous lifelines, particularly on the issue of 1MDB,” said Hanipa.
Amanah was set up after its leaders, formerly known in PAS as the progressives faction, was completely wiped out from the top leadership during the heated muktamar of 2015.
Following this, PAS has been seen to be increasingly friendly with Umno, culminating in a report by Singapore's Straits Times in August claiming Hadi and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak have been working on an electoral pact to capture Selangor in the coming general election.- Mkini
