‘WAIT, FINAL DECISION TO BE MADE NEXT YEAR’: NURUL IZZAH MAY CONTEST IN FATHER’S PERMATANG PAUH SEAT IN GE14

PERMATANG PAUH – PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar  is not ruling out the possibility of contesting in Permatang Pauh in the 14th general election.
Speaking to reporters after a “Back To School” programme at the party’s service centre in Permatang Pasir here, she however said for now all elected representatives will remain in their respective constituencies.
“For now all our MPs will remain in their constituencies, God willing by early next year the party leadership will make a final decision (on candidacy),” she said.
There is speculation that the Lembah Pantai MP might contest the Permatang Pauh parliamentary constituency currently held by her mother Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Wan Azizah retained the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat in the 2015 by-election with a reduced majority of 8,841 votes defeating Suhaimi Sabudin of Barisan Nasional (BN).
Sources close to theSun also revealed that Wan Azizah has decided to let her daughter contest in the PKR stronghold, as Anwar is due to be released from prison by the middle of next year.
Earlier, Nurul was accompanied by PKR deputy youth chief Dr Afif Bahardin and Permatang Pauh youth chief Mohd Sharmizan Mohammad Nor in distributing vouchers worth RM150 to 1,300 under privileged school children in the constituency.
