GE14 | After BN president Najib Abdul Razak claimed that the large crowd at Pakatan Harapan rallies were "bussed in", TV3 tonight alleged they were "doctored photographs".
During its Buletin Utama news section, TV3 claimed it was a "desperate act" by the opposition to garner support.
"The opposition tactic exposed by the prime minister refers to photographs circulated on social media such as Facebook and Whatsapp that shows pictures as if there were a sea of people present, particularly at ceramah by Mahathir," said the news anchor.
The caption read: "Ubahsuai, sebar kehadiran penyokong" (doctored and circulated images of supporters' attendance).
Buletin Utama also cited political analyst Noor Wandy Mat Noordin who claimed that the large numbers at Harapan's ceramah may have been doctored.
"The pictures that are made viral, supposedly showing thousands of people flooding the (opposition) programmes, may be true but it also could be the factor of doctored photographs where pictures are taken from unrelated events to show as if they have support," he said.
Meanwhile, Berita Harian, quoting caretaker minister in the prime ministers' department Azalina Otman, said the spread of "fake photographs" showing large crowds at Harapan's events was a "psywar" to frighten fence-sitters.
Earlier today, Najib dismissed the large turnout at Harapan ceramah.
“They are bringing in outsiders by bus and then claiming that they have public support.
“But for us over here, I don’t see any buses, but look at the support we receive, everyone here today is a genuine supporter (of BN),” Najib had said at a BN event in Kepala Batas. - Mkini
