Missing activist Amri Che Mat's wife Norhayati Mohd Ariffin is expected to testify for the second time tomorrow in the Human Rights Commission’s (Suhakam) inquiry into the disappearances of pastor Raymond Koh and her husband.
This comes after Norhayati lodged a police report on May 15 with supposedly new information about both disappearances, which she received from police officer Shamzaini Mohd Daud.
She had claimed in a statement that Shamzaini told her that her husband was taken by a team of police officers from Bukit Aman and that it was the same “team” who had taken Koh on Feb 13, 2017.
Shamzaini, she said, had also alleged to her that even before Amri's disappearance on Nov 24, 2016, a police team in Perlis had been conducting surveillance on him.
Norhayati had initially given her testimony in the Suhakam inquiry on March 19 this year. However, in light of the police report she just lodged, she has been called to the stand again.
After Norhayati’s second testimony tomorrow, Shamzaini is expected to testify to Suhakam the day after.
Norhayati had previously claimed that Shamzaini had come to her house on the night of May 12 to reveal more details about the disappearances of her husband and Koh. She added that he showed her his police identification card when asked for verification.
She had also urged the police to investigate these new allegations immediately and to co-operate with the Suhakam inquiry by “being more forthcoming with the truth”.
Bukit Aman corporate communications head SAC Asmawati Ahmad had previously confirmed that a police report had been lodged on the matter and investigations were underway. - Mkini
