Barisan Nasional Only Secured 32% Of Popular Vote Versus 50% For Pakatan Harapan.

Image result for BN and Harapan

Here is a comment by Mujahidin Zulkifli.

PH won GE14 but popular votes are only 50-50

Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) popular votes about 50%

Popular votes is total number or percentage of votes received by a party

PH led with 5,685,252 votes
Barisan Nasional (BN) 3,624,921 votes (32%)
PAS 2,043,159 votes (18%) - NST

PH - 5,685,252
BN-PAS - 5,668,080
PH Majority by 17,172

Yes, a tiny tiny margin
Half of Malaysians reject Pakatan Harapan

If you check MKini and Wiki, PH got less than 50% and BN-PAS got 51%.

most of PH’s win in urban constituencies
still far far away from winning rural battle

In GE14, we (Pakatan) only won 50%.
We won seats but we didn’t win the people

BN lost but PAS won
They won additional state
Many predicted PAS wipe-out
they are gaining strength
warming up for GE15

In GE13, PAS received 1,633,389 votes.
In GE14, they got 2,043,159.
In GE13, PAS got votes because of Pakatan
In GE14, they got it on their own, without a coalition

we may have won this battle, but war is far from over.

The defeated are being magnanimous in defeat.
They have been quiet, but already working towards winning next election

truth is, for every vote for PH, an equal number voted against.

My comments :

The big loser is the BN. They are down to just 32% of the popular vote. Only one in three of Malaysian voters voted for the BN.

The biggest loser in my reckoning is PAS. They are the party that fielded candidates in the largest number of Parliamentary seats - 160 constituencies.

No other single party, not even UMNO, fielded so many candidates.

Yet despite fielding candidates for 160 Parliamentary seats, PAS only won 18 seats. A success ratio of 11% only.   Plus the PAS only took away 18% of the popular vote.

What is more relevant is Parti Amanah - a breakaway faction from PAS.  They fielded candidates in 27 Parliamentary seats and won 10 seats (apologies if I am off by one or two).  Amanah has a 37% success ratio.    This means that Amanah was THREE times more successful than PAS - and in the first outing.

Amanah too must start working hard from now to keep their seats and also to expand their influence. Their rival is clear - it is PAS.

PAS has also not made that great a headway in Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah.  In the past these states have always been marginal wins for either PAS or BN. Even now the seat differential is really slim, just one or two seats difference between the ruling party and the opposition.

UMNO has to really take stock.  The BN getting just 32% of the popular vote only confirms that both UMNO and the BN components are out of step with the realities in the country.

I have never seen an election where the people had so much hate for the BN. It has never been like this before.

And looking at the statements from Khairy Jamaludin, Zahid Hamidi and such it is clear that UMNO is doomed.  These people have no ideas or intellectual vision. They are just not leadership material.

It is best for UMNO members to just disband and do something else.

Parti UMNO sudah jadi parti yang tidak berguna.
