Blacklisted! Ex-IGP, ex-MACC boss, Apandi and Irwan

Former inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar is the latest to join the list of those banned from travelling abroad.
Others on the list are attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali, former treasurer-general Irwan Serigar Abdullah and former MACC chief Dzulkifli Ahmad.
Malaysiakini checked their respective MyKad numbers with the Immigration Department's blacklist checker and found that the four do not fall under the "Tiada halangan" (no restriction) category.
Apandi has been accused by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad of hiding evidence related to the 1MDB scandal, although the former has denied the allegation.
The attorney-general began a 30-day unrecorded leave starting today and looks set to lose his job.
Former treasurer-general Irwan Serigar is also the 1MDB chairperson. He was also a key witness in both Public Accounts Committee's investigations into the company.
Yesterday, Irwan was transferred out of the Ministry of Finance.
Meanwhile, Dzulkifli took over MACC's reins from Abu Kassim Mohamed on Aug 1, 2016. Dzulkifli's role in the 1MDB investigation is uncertain.
In 2015, Abu Kassim was part of the special task force assigned to investigate 1MDB matters, which also included then Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, then attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail and former police chief Khalid.
Since coming to power last week, Mahathir pledged to reopen investigations into 1MDB, among other scandals.

Sources told Malaysiakini that many individualsinvolved in the 1MDB affair have been barred from travelling abroad.
It is also believed that 1MDB chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy is on the list as well. Malaysiakini has contacted him for comment and is awaiting his response.
On Saturday, former premier Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor were also barred from leaving the country. -Mkini
