GE14 | BN candidate Wong Kam Seng is unfazed by the criticism over his posters which state that "Voting BN equals to supporting China".
The Menglembu state seat candidate told Sin Chew Daily that he had put much thought into the matter before coming up with the slogan.
Wong said China was an important trading partner and could be dubbed as Malaysia's "Cai Shen Ye" (God of Prosperity).
He said ensuring good ties between Malaysia and China would benefit the Chinese community here.
"We are descendants of the Yan and Yellow Emperor, yet we are Malaysians. We must not forget our roots...
"China is the second biggest economy in the world. In recent years, they have invested a lot here. Strong ties with China will only bring a hundred benefits and no ills," he added.
Wong said he would not bow to pressure from netizens, especially youths while urging them to look at the country's future and not protest for the sake of protesting.
He said a lot of netizens who are criticising him are not even Menglembu voters.
Wong, 44, has his own health food business and is a 26-year Batu Gajah MCA division veteran member. This is his first electoral outing.
He would be facing DAP's Chaw Kam Foon and PSM's Chin Kwai Leong in the polls.
Menglembu, which is located in Perak, has long been a DAP stronghold and is famous for industrial scale groundnuts production. -Mkini
