Bursa Malaysia remains in red at mid-morning


Bursa Malaysia remained in the red as at mid-morning today, and in line with most regional peers, as selling in heavyweights emerged, dealers said.
At 11am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 27.15 points lower at 1,817.88 from Tuesday's close of 1,845.03.
The index opened 1.63 points weaker at 1,843.40.
Among heavyweights, Maybank slipped two sen to RM10.86, Public Bank declined six sen to RM25.14, TNB shed 20 sen to RM15.14, Petronas Chemicals dipped eight sen to RM8.35 and CIMB lost 32 sen to RM6.33.
For actives, NETX, AirAsia X and Hubline were flat at three sen, 38 sen and nine sen respectively, Sapura energy shed four sen to 72 sen, while MyEG eased half-a-sen to 93 sen.
The FBM Emas Index dropped 180.85 points to 12,663.74, the FBMT 100 Index decreased 178.98 points to 12,469.33, the FBM Emas Shariah Index edged down 218.446 points to 12,657.02 and the FBM Ace fell 65.43 points to 5,215.79.
The FBM 70 lost 189.21 points to 14,916.62.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index slipped 187.20 points to 18,257.99, the Plantation Index contracted 33.49 points to 7,906.43 and the Industrial Index lost 49.44 points to 3,256.21.
Market breadth remained negative with losers thumping gainers 625 to 138, while 278 counters were unchanged, 867 untraded and 20 others suspended.
Volume stood at 1.05 billion units valued at RM744.01 million.
